- The Christmas Collection (2008)
The Christmas Collection is a Christmas compilation album by Christian singer-songwriter Amy Grant , released on September 30, 2008 by Sparrow Records and EMI Christian Music Group. The compilation includes fourteen previously released Christmas songs from Grant's three Christmas studio albums A Christmas Album , Home for Christmas and A Christmas to Remember , as well as four new songs. Of the four songs, two are covers and two are originals. The two covers are "Jingle Bells" sung in fast-paced, just like Barbra Streisand's 1967 recording as arranged by Marty Paich and Jack Gold and "Count Your Blessings" from the 1954 motion picture White Christmas . The two new originals are "I Need a Silent Night" and "Baby, It's Christmas." The intro of "Sleigh Ride" actually begins over the end of "Baby, It's Christmas," and continues non-stop in a successive flow and the album contains a shortened edited version of "A Mighty Fortress/Angels We Have Heard on High." The album peaked at number 2 on the Top Christian Albums, number 5 on the Top Holiday Albums and number 41 on the Top 200 Albums charts in Billboard magazine. Track listing 1.
