- Love Beyond Reason (1985)
Love Beyond Reason is the eighth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Randy Stonehill , released on June 17, 1985 by Myrrh/Word Records. The album was produced and arranged by Barry Miller Kaye with engineering and mixing by Stonehill's friend and folk rock singer - songwriter Mark Heard. The album peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. Love Beyond Reason became very successful in the strength of its lead single, "I Could Never Say Goodbye." The track is a vocal duet with popular CCM singer - songwriter Amy Grant . Grant had just released her first mainstream album Unguarded at the time of Stonehill's release, with the duet track and Grant's "Find a Way" both climbing up the Christian radio charts at the same time. "I Could Never Say Goodbye" earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group. It was Stonehill's only sole Grammy nomination. The rest of Love Beyond Reason is a pop/rock album. Highlights include an uptempo version of "Until Your Love Broke Through," a song Stonehill co-wrote with Jesus Music legend Keith Green back in 1976, "The Gods of Men" with Bryan Duncan providing backing vocals, the title song and "Hymn." To go along with the audio release, Stonehill also put out a collection of music videos on VHS titled Love Beyond Reason - The Video Album with five videos from this album plus "Still Small Voice" from Celebrate This Heartbeat . The cassette and CD versions also contain an extended version of "The Gods of Men." Track listing of the CD Version All songs were written by Randy Stonehill, except where noted. 1. - Bloom (1996)
Bloom is the third studio album by the Christian modern rock band Audio Adrenaline , released on February 8, 1996 by ForeFront Records. John Hampton, who is best known for producing albums for Gin Blossoms and The Replacements, produced, mixed and engineered a majority of the album with The Gotee Brothers (Toby McKeehan of DC Talk , Joey Elway and Todd Collins) producing only three tracks. Eddie DeGarmo and Dan R. Brock served as executive producers. Bloom was recorded in 1995 at three studios in Tennessee including Ardent Recordings, where DeGarmo & Key recorded all their albums. The album was well received by the audience and proved to be Audio A's breakthrough release. Leaving behind what the band calls their "cheerleader songs" from their first two albums, Audio A goes for a new sound with a combination of alternative rock and pop songwriting sensibilities. The band says the album's title and the music reflects the way they've matured and grown into a new phase of life. Seven tracks were released to Christian Rock and CHR radio formats with "Secret" and "I'm Not the King" both topping the Christian Rock chart. Audio A also covers The Edgar Winter Group's 1972 hit "Free Ride" (#14 Billboard Hot 100). Bloom peaked at number 2 on the Top Christian Albums and at number 77 on the Top 200 Albums charts in Billboard magazine. In 1997, Audio A earned their first Grammy nomination for Best Rock Gospel Album and was nominated for two Dove Awards for Rock Album of the Year and Rock Recorded Song of the Year for "I'm Not the King." The following year, "Free Ride" was nominated for Rock Recorded Song of the Year. The album cover was also nominated for Recorded Music Packaging. Bloom was Gold certified in 1999 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). It was Audio A's only Gold-certified album. In 2021, ForeFront reissued the album for the first time on vinyl on a clear picture LP with red and black splatter. Track listing All songs were written by Audio Adrenaline, except where noted. 1. - Don't Censor Me (1993)
Don't Censor Me is the second studio album by the Christian modern rock band Audio Adrenaline , released on November 16, 1993 by ForeFront Records. The album was produced by Steve Griffith and The Gotee Brothers, which consisted of Toby McKeehan (TobyMac of DC Talk ), Joey Elway and Todd Collins, founders of Gotee Records, producing only two tracks. Don't Censor Me was a much-improved follow up to their self-titled debut , but the band members feel "it still didn't hit the mark." Despite that, Audio A hit the mark at Christian CHR with its first two singles: "My World View" featuring a cameo vocal appearance by DC Talk's Kevin Max and "Big House." It was the latter song that received the most airplay and even a music video was made. "Big House" was a big hit not just at Christian radio but with the youth and teenagers, thanks in part to its sing-a-long chorus. CCM Magazine ranked the song at number 25 in their 2006 book The 100 Greatest Christian Songs in Christian Music . Other hits followed like "Can't Take God Away" and "Rest Easy" for Christian CHR with "We're a Band" and the title song for Christian Rock radio. Don't Censor Me started climbing the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart in 1994 after a slow start. It peaked at number 11. In 1995, Audio A released their first Video EP on VHS titled Big House featuring behind-the-scenes footage and music videos for "Big House," "We're a Band," "A.K.A. Public School" and "PDA" from their first album. The video for "A.K.A. Public School" features an appearance by DC Talk playing the "three cool guys" at a high school basketball tournament. That same year, the band received their first Dove Award nominations for Rock Album of the Year, Rock Recorded Song of the Year and Short Form Music Video of the Year, both for "Big House." The following year, the band won their first Dove Award for Long Form Music Video of the Year for Big House . - Pray (1998)
Pray is the fifth studio album by Australian Christian singer - songwriter Rebecca St. James , released on October 20, 1998 by ForeFront Records. Produced by Tedd T. A proper follow up to her 1996 Gold selling album God , Pray would be her second Gold selling album, certified in 2006 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales of 500,000 copies. In 2000, St. James won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album at the 42nd Grammy Awards. The album is a departure from the Alanis Morissette pretensions of God and in favor is a synth-driven pop sound as preceded by the lead single "Mirror." The song as well as the title song both did well on both Christian CHR and Christian Rock charts. St. James covers two songs: "Hold Me Jesus" by Rich Mullins and "Lord You're Beautiful" by Keith Green . The CD version contains a hidden bonus track of the hymn "Be Thou My Vision." Pray peaked at number 5 on both the Top Christian Albums and Heatseekers Album charts and climbed to number 168 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. In 1999, St. James released a VHS to go with the Pray album titled No Secrets and it features interviews with herself, her family and some of her friends and fellow recording artists, plus the "Pray" music video. For a limited time the VHS came with a Yes, I Believe In God single with 3 tracks: "Yes, I Believe in God" and two radio remix versions of "Omega" and "Pray." Like Michael W. Smith 's 1999 song "This is Your Time," "Yes, I Believe in God" is a tribute and dedication to shooting victim Cassie Bernall, when the shooter asked her a question about believing in God at the Columbine High School shooting in Columbine, Colorado in 1999. The song was released as a radio-only single and made the Top 5 on the Christian radio charts and would later appear on her 2003 compilation album Wait for Me: The Best from Rebecca St. James .
