A Million Lights is the twenty first studio album by Christian singer -songwriter Michael W. Smith, released on February 16, 2018. The album was released independently on Smith's Rocketown Records label (named after the song "Rocketown" from Smith's 1986 album The Big Picture) and distributed by The Fuel Music.
It is Smith's first new album in four years and a proper follow up to 2010's Wonder. Originally it was set to be released in October 2017 but ultimately was postponed to February 2018. The first single from the album, the title song, was released on August 11, 2017. The album is a mix of pop music with some EDM (electronic dance music) influences. A Million Lights is produced by Bryan Todd, Kyle Lee and Paul Moak. American singer, actress and American Idol season six winner Jordan Sparks is a featured vocalist on the song "Hey Love." The album peaked at number 2 on the Top Christian Albums, number 8 on the Top Independent Albums and number 42 on the Top Album Sales charts in Billboard magazine.
In 2020, Smith re-recorded the track "Conversation" as a stand-alone single but serious in tone, different from the original EDM recording from A Million Lights. The song accompanied by a music video is reflective considering that it was released during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the wake of the death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement. The song's message is about having a talk with God through the good times and the bad.
