re:creation (2011)

re:creation is the 16th studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman, released on August 9, 2011 by Sparrow Records. The album is produced by Chapman and Brent Milligan. This will be Chapman's last album on the Sparrow Records label, his label home since 1986.

The album has eight new mixes of some of Chapman's songs, as well as five new songs and the Christian hymn "Morning Has Broken" featuring Chapman's son Celeb singing with his dad in duet form. After the accidental death of Chapman's daughter Maria Sue, he found many of his older songs taking on deeper, different meanings. Chapman says "I found myself singing these songs with a different passion and different purpose. I wanted to re-invent them in a way that really represents what they mean to me now..." The eight "re:created" songs include "The Great Adventure," "Dive (Deeper)" and "For the Sake of the Call," while the new songs include its lead single "Do Everything" and "Long Way Home."

re:creation debuted and peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums and number 43 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. Chapman earned a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance for the track "Do Everything."
