The Sky's the Limit is the fourth solo album by Christian singer - songwriter Leon Patillo, released around March 1984 by Myrrh/Word Records. Patillo produced the album with Skip Konte.
The Sky's the Limit is a successful album. CCM Magazine chose this album as one of the Ten Best of 1984 noting that "every cut on The Sky's the Limit is strong, both musically and lyrically." The album opens with the lead single "I've Heard the Thunder," which dazzles with its interplay of keyboard wizardry and drumming downbeats. "Life Is What You Make It" has a Caribbean feel and "J.E.S.U.S." is a hand-clapping gospel tune with classic call-and-response sequences between Patillo and the background singers. The title song is also a concert and radio favorite. Patillo made his first music video for the track "Love Calling" with its space theme mixed with choreographed dancing,
The Sky's the Limit climbed up to number 5 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums and peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Top Spiritual Albums (now Top Gospel Albums) charts. In 1985, Patillo earned his second Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance, Male for his song "J.E.S.U.S." and was nominated at the Dove Awards for Male Vocalist of the Year for the third year in a row. Patillo has written all ten songs and has played all the instruments, programming and handles the vocals.
