Brave Heart (1991)

Brave Heart is the third studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Kim Hill, released on June 19, 1991 by Reunion Records. The album was produced by Brown Bannister and Wayne Kirkpatrick.

Brave Heart was more in vein like her previous album Talk About Life, but takes this release to a new level. Hill rocks out on the track "Round and Round." The song was a Top 10 Christian Rock hit. There are also some Beatles influences on "Words" and "Up in the Sky." Hill had a number one song with the country-tinged "Satisfied." The album's final track "I Will Wait" is a song, Hill says, is about "waiting on the Lord" with specific application to waiting for God to provide her a husband. At the end of the song, there's is a 30-second snippet of Hill, in the studio, trying to hit the high notes on "Mysterious Ways," but to no avail.

Brave Heart is regarded as Hill's best album with some top notch musicians, once again featuring the rhythm section of guitarist Gordon Kennedy, bassist Tommy Sims and drummer Chris McHugh, all three formerly of White Heart. Kirkpatrick wrote or co-wrote a majority of the album, except for the track "Don't Face the World Alone," which was written by Karen Peris. Hill co-wrote five songs with Kirkpatrick.

Brave Heart debuted and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. In 1992, Hill was nominated for a Dove Award for Female Vocalist of the Year and earned her first, and only, Grammy nomination for Best Rock/

Contemporary Gospel Album.

NOTE: Brave Heart serves as Hill's final album of Christian music material as she embarks on mainstream country music with her next release So Far So Good.
