Closer (EP) (2008)

Closer is an extended play by the American rock band Jars of Clay. It was released first on digital platforms on July 29, 2008 and then on CD on August 19, 2008 by Gray Matters/Nettwerk Music Group. The title track was the only radio single to be released, although the new version of their classic 90s hit "Love Song For a Savior" has been played more on radio stations than "Closer." Both "Closer" and "Safe to Land" would later appear on the band's 2009 album The Long Fall Back to Earth, but the version of "Closer" is a slightly different mix than the original version from the EP. The song "Prisoner of Hope" was featured prominently at the end of the 2011 documentary film Honoring a Father's Dream: Sons of Lwala, for which the band also did the original score. Closer was produced by the band.
