Comatose is the sixth studio album by the Christian rock band Skillet, released on October 18, 2006 by Ardent Records, SRE/INO Records and Lava/Atlantic Records. The album was produced by lead singer John Cooper and Canadian musician and songwriter Brian Howes. Starting with this album and in future releases, Skillet uses their stylized band font name.

Comatose continues their modern rock/alternative and nu metal sound as heard from their previous release Collide, which gave Skillet some media and mainstream exposure. The keyboards are downplayed in favor of distorted guitars and included more of an emphasis on orchestral arrangements in the vein of Skillets's counterpart band Evanescense. Cooper and Howes have written seven songs together with Cooper writing four songs by himself. Five singles were released to both mainstream rock and Christian radio between 2006 and 2008 with the title song released solely to Christian Rock radio. It is their most streamed track on the album with more than 285 million plays. Four of those singles have been certified Gold and with two of those four singles gone Platinum with combined sales of close to 3 million download copies.

Comatose has charted on the following Billboard albums charts:

#4 Billboard Top Christian Albums

#55 Billboard 200

#19 Billboard Top Rock Albums

#24 Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums

Comatose was certified Gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) on November 3, 2009 and then went Platinum selling over a million copies by 2016. In 2008, Skillet won their first Dove Award for Rock Recorded Song of the Year for the title song at the 39th GMA Dove Awards and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album.

This is also the last album featuring Lori Peters as the drummer. In late 2007, Peters took some time to train Skillet's next drummer, Jen Ledger.
