Come On, Ring Those Bells (1977)/Julens Klocker, Ring! (1978)
Come On, Ring Those Bells is the 14th studio and first English language Christmas album by Christian singer Evie, released in October 1977 by Word Records. The album was produced and arranged by Lennart Sjöholm.
Released about six months after her critically-acclaimed album Mirror, Come On, Ring Those Bells was highly regarded as a landmark Christmas album due in part to its title song. Written by Andrew Culverwell, "Come On, Ring Those Bells" became a massive seasonal hit and one of the first modern CCM tracks to cross over into mainstream, permanent holiday rotation. The album was a mix of traditional Christmas carols and original songs, giving it a country pop and easy listening feel. Evie also records an earlier Swedish traditional track "Nu Tändas Tusen Juleljus" in English as "A Thousand Candles." She also recorded David Meece's original composition "One Small Child." Come On, Ring Those Bells earned Evie her second Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance, Contemporary in 1979.
