Far Away Places (1987)

Updated: Feb 24

Far Away Places is the ninth studio album by the Christian vocal trio 2nd Chapter of Acts, released in the fall of 1987 on Live Oak Records. The album was produced and co-engineered by Buck Herring.

After the success of their Dove Award winning best seller Hymns, the trio returned with, what was, their final regular studio album of original material with trio member Matthew Ward singing lead vocals on half the album (Ward released his second solo album Armed & Dangerous the previous year) and co-writing three songs with sibling member and principled songwriter Annie Herring.

The album's lead single "Humble Yourself" gave the trio their final number one song on the Christian radio charts. Further singles "Sing Over Me" and "Take It to All the World" were their final hits.

Far Away Places peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. This album and Hymns were both in the Top 10 charting at the same time. Far Away Places was re-issued on CD in 1991 by Sparrow Records.
