How Mercy Looks From Here is the eighteenth studio album by Christian singer-songwriter Amy Grant, released on May 14, 2013 by Sparrow and EMI Christian Music Group.
It is Grant's first full length studio album of new songs in 10 years since 2003's Simple Things (not counting her 2010 album Somewhere Down the Road that contains previously released songs along with new material). The album is produced by Marshall Altman, marking his first time working with Grant.
Only two singles were released from the album: "Don't Try So Hard" featuring harmony vocals by folk pop singer James Taylor and "If I Could See (What the Angels See)." Special guest singers on How Mercy Looks From Here include Sheryl Crow and Eric Paslay sung in trio on the track "Deep As It Is Wide," Grant's husband Vince Gill ("Better Not to Know"), Will Hoge ("Shovel in Hand") and Carole King ("Our Time is Now"). The album is dedicated to Grant's late mother, Gloria Grant, whose struggle with dementia and subsequent death inspired many of the album's lyrics. On the original album's release, it contained eleven songs. Then later released as a Deluxe Edition, the albums added three songs bringing a total to fourteen songs.
The album topped the Billboard Top Christian Albums and peaked at number 12 on the Top 200 Albums chart, her highest debut and best chart showing since 1997's Behind the Eyes.
