Reborn (2009)

Reborn is the tenth studio album by the Christian vocal group Avalon. It is the first and only album by E1 Music (now MNRK Music Group), released on September 15, 2009. It is the first and only album featuring new members Jeremi Richardson and his wife Amy Richardson, in addition to veterans Greg and Janna Long.

Reborn's sound is more rock-oriented, even though Avalon is considered a Christian AC act, their new sound could rank up there with other Christian Rock acts like Third Day, Jeremy Camp and Casting Crowns. The group seizes the chance to start over by delivering passionate performances emphasizing their trademark harmony sound. The album was produced by Ian Eskelin and Barry Weeks. Eskelin and Weeks helped to give Reborn a modern edge on some of the songs like "Feel" and the title song. "California" serves as a spiritual metaphor for stepping out in faith and moving toward a "promised land" or a new season of life led by God. The ballads "Arise" and "Alive" were the only singles released to Christian radio. Reborn debuted and peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart for a week before dropping off.

After the release of Reborn, Avalon continued to tour into the 2010s with the Longs and the Richardsons and with no record label, there was no new album throughout that period until 2018 when Jeremi and Amy left Avalon and later Jody McBrayer returned along with new member Dani Rocca to record their 2020 release Called.
