The Greatest Hits (2009) (Avalon compilation album)

The Greatest Hits is the official second compilation album by the Christian vocal group Avalon. It was released on February 20, 2009 by Sparrow Records. This collection contains 15 of Avalon's best-known songs. Many of them have appeared previously on their first compilation album Testify to Love, plus one brand new track and Christian radio single "Still My God." It is the first recording with new member Jeremi Richardson and the last recording with Melissa Greene, as she left the group after this release. Ironically, Greene was a member at the beginning on Testify to Love singing on the new tracks and now ending her time with Avalon on this release with one new song.

"Still My God" focuses on the sovereignty and faithfulness of God regardless of life's circumstances. Its lyrics contrast "standing on a mountain" with "drowning in a sea," reinforcing that God remains constant in both highs and lows. The song peaked at number 2 on Radio & Records Christian Inspo chart, just a few weeks before the trade magazine folded and transfered all the Christian radio airplay data over to Billboard in June 2009. The Greatest Hits also includes their most recent songs like "All," "You Were There," "Orphans of God" and "In Christ Alone." But unlike Testify to Love, this compilation album did not chart on the Top Christian Albums or the Billboard 200. Avalon ended their contract with Sparrow and were in the studio recording their next album Reborn to be released later in 2009.
