Roots & Wings (EP) (2005)

Roots & Wings is a digital extended play by the American rock band Jars of Clay, released on March 1, 2005 by Essential Records/Provident Music Group. The EP preceded the release of their next studio album Redemption Songs. "God Will Lift Up Your Head" is the lead single from Redemption Songs. The track is based on the traditional hymn "Give to the Wind Thy Fears" written by John Wesley, but with slightly altered lyrics, particularly the title. "What Wondrous Love" is a B-side from the Redemption Songs recording sessions and is based on the traditional 1811 hymn "What Wondrous Love Is This." The tracks "Tonight" and "Shipwrecked" were B-sides recorded during the Who We Are Instead sessions. Both can be found on the special 2-disc limited edition of Who We Are Instead on the second bonus disc. The total running time for this EP is 15 minutes. All tracks were produced by Jars of Clay and Mitch Dane.
