The Hope of a Man (1994)

Updated: Sep 15

The Hope of a Man is the second solo album by Christian singer - songwriter Bob Carlisle. It was released on November 15, 1994 by Sparrow Records. The album was produced by Bill Deaton.

Released after the success of his self-titled debut album which garnered two number one hits, Carlisle returns with his sophomore album continuing the

formula of his first album with his mix of pop and adult contemporary. Carlisle wrote four songs with musician - songwriter Rick Elias and Carlisle co-wrote the lead single "One Step Closer to Your Broken Heart" with his Allies partner Randy Thomas and producer Deaton. Carlisle originally recorded "Man of No Reputation" written by Elias. Elias himself later recorded his version on the 1998

posthumous Rich Mullins project The Jesus Record.

Sparrow Records did very little to promote The Hope of a Man and the album did not chart on the Billboard Top Christian Albums. Carlisle left the label and signed with Diadem Music to record his next album Shades of Grace.
