WOW 1996 is a double disc compilation album that was released on October 26, 1995. The project is a collection of 30 top Christian artists and songs and represented the first installment in a highly successful annual series named WOW Hits. The album peaked at number 144 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in 1995 and in 1996, peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. The album was certified as platinum in the year 1997 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). WOW 1996 was jointly released by Sparrow Records, Reunion Records and Word Records with Chordant Distribution Group as its main distributor.
