WOW 1997 is a double disc compilation album that was released on October 17, 1996 by Sparrow Records, Reunion Records and Word Records with Chordant Distribution Group as its main distributor. After the success of WOW 1996, this collection was issued featuring 30 of the top Christian artists and their songs on 2 CDs and 2 cassettes. The album topped the Top Christian Albums and peaked at number 71 on the Top 200 Albums charts in Billboard magazine. WOW 1997 was certified Gold in two months after its release and then Platinum certified six months later by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
