Beyond the Charade (1987)
Beyond the Charade is the debut album by American singer - songwriter Crystal Lewis. It was released in November 1987 by Frontline Records. The album was produced by Bill Baumgart.
After her band Wild Blue Yonder released their one-off self-titled album, the band separated and Lewis stayed with Frontline, signing a recording contract and released her first solo album Beyond the Charade. The album showcases her vocals in dance pop, R&B and ballads. Lewis recorded her version of "Precious Lord," the first of many hymns she would record throughout her career. "Breakdown" is an upbeat track written by Christian singer - songwriter (and Frontline label mate) Jon Gibson. "Without You" was written by Lewis and future husband Brian Ray.
Beyond the Charade was reissued on CD in 1997 by Metro One with an alternate album cover.
