Deep Valley (2023)

Deep Valley is an "unearthed" live concert album by Christian singer - songwriter Rich Mullins. It was originally released in 2022 on a custom label called Old Bear Records. It was available for a limited time on vinyl and on CD, it contained five bonus tracks, plus it is the official live recording available to the public and his first official posthumous release in over 20 years. Deep Valley was made available on digital platforms for streaming on February 10, 2023.

Recorded at Deep Valley Christian Camp in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania in 1984, just two years before Mullins released his self-titled debut album, the recording captures Mullins in the early 1980s, serving as a bridge between his time as a songwriter for other artists and his later career as a solo artist. It features tracks

consisting of both music and "Richard Rants"—Mullins' signature rambling, insightful talks between songs. It includes familiar and "new" recordings of songs that were recorded by other artists like "Sing Your Praise to the Lord" (Amy Grant) and "O Come All Ye Faithful" (Debby Boone) and songs that Mullins wrote and kept for himself like "A Few Good Men" and "Elijah."

The project was executive produced by Mullins' life-long friend Beth Snell Lutz, who was also a one-time band mate of Mullins' band Zion. She is also the keeper of Mullins' early music catalog. Co-executive producers were Andrew Greer,

Anthony Hoisington and Dave Trout. Chris Marchand and Joe Cook were assistant producers. The project was funded as a stretch goal for the Kickstarter campaign for the release of another Mullins' tribute album entitled Bellsburg - The Songs of Rich Mullins, which was released in 2022 featuring various artists taking on his songs.
