If I Had One Chance to Tell You Something (2005)

Updated: Jul 23, 2023

If I Had One Chance to Tell You Something is the eighth studio album by Australian Christian singer - songwriter Rebecca St. James, released on November 22, 2005 by ForeFront Records.

If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something is described as "commercial alternative rock," much in the vein of her 1996 album God. It is much edgier and rock-based than St. James' prior album, Worship God. It is also St. James' first album of new material in five years since her 2000 album Transform. The title of the album is from the track "You Are Loved," which was inspired by an old family friend. St. James says, "This is a song for the prodigals—which is all of us. God is the father that has His arms open wide waiting for us. He wants us to run towards Him and He will run toward us. It’s a song of hope and a message my generation needs to hear. ‘No matter where you've been and what you've done... you are loved.'"

The album is produced by Matt Bronleewe, Tedd T. and Shaun Shankel. A Special Edition release of If I Had One Chance... was released in 2006 and featured three bonus songs: two acoustic songs of the tracks "God Help Me" and "You Are Loved" and a new track "America," which was the 2006 theme song for National Day of Prayer. "America" was also released as a three-song EP (extended play). The Special Edition was also accompanied by a DVD featuring live performances from the 2005 Creation West Festival, two acoustic versions of said songs and a photo gallery. The album peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. ForeFront label mate TobyMac is featured on the track "Thank You" and the female Christian rock band BarlowGirl is featured on the track "Forgive Me."

NOTE: this album would be St. James' final studio album on the ForeFront label.
