Signature (1982)

Signature is the sixth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Scott Wesley

Brown, released on September 16, 1982 by Sparrow Records. The album was produced by Dan Collins.

Signature was, in some ways, a breakthrough album due to the success of the

album's only Christian radio single and Brown's first number one hit "He Will Carry You." The track functions as an inspirational ballad designed to offer comfort, reassurance, and spiritual strength to those going through personal hardships. The lyrics explicitly incorporate Jesus' words from Matthew 11:28: "Come unto Me, all who are weary, and I will give you rest." "He Will Carry You" was nominated for a Dove Award for Song of the Year and Brown was nominated for Songwriter of the Year, two years in a row in each category in 1983 and 1984. It became a signature song for Brown as has performed this song at his concerts and still performs it to this day. In 2006, "He Will Carry You" was listed at number 95 on CCM Magazine's book The 100 Greatest Songs in Christian Music.

The rest of the album features backing vocals from Amy Grant, Gary Chapman, Kathy Troccoli, producer Collins and his wife, singer Jamie Owens Collins, Kelly Willard and Marty McCall, who at the time was the lead singer of the Christian pop rock band Fireworks and later a member of First Call. Signature is not available on digital platforms. Tracks from the album like "He Will Carry You" is available on digital platforms on his two compilation releases, All My Best and The Scott Wesley Brown Collection.
