Stories From the Heart is the fourth solo album by Christian singer - songwriter Bob Carlisle, released on September 29, 1998 by Diadem Music/Benson Records and Jive Records. Carlisle produced and arranged the album himself.
Stories From the Heart is the follow-up to his multi-platinum album Butterfly
Kisses (Shades of Grace) and continues the formula of inspirational ballads and lite pop songs. Its theme is all about family, in which Carlisle dedicated the album to his wife Jacque and his two children Brooke and Evan. The track "Father's Love" is sung to his son Evan about a father and son relationship. It was featured in the 1998 motion picture Jack Frost and its accompanying soundtrack. An orchestral version of the song is included as a bonus track and is arranged by Tom Howard. Country music singer Kathy Mattea duets with Carlisle on "Somewhere," about being single and that someday that single person will find a spouse. "In the Hands of Jesus" features gospel musicians Fred Hammond & the Radical for Christ Choir.
Stories From the Heart debuted and peaked at number 7 on the Top Christian Albums and at number 191 on the Top 200 Albums charts in Billboard magazine. Even though it was not as big a seller as Butterfly Kisses, the album was still moderately successful. In 1999, its lead single " We Fall Down" (written by Kyle Matthews) was nominated for a Dove Award for Song of the Year.
