Teach Us Your Way: Together in Prayer and Worship (1981)
Teach Us Your Way: Together in Prayer and Worship is a collaborative worship album by Christian singer Evie and her husband Pelle Karlsson. It was released in January 1981 on Word Records. The couple produced the album themselves.
Teach Us Your Way marked a significant departure from Evie’s traditional solo flagship pop-worship albums. Following their marriage in 1979, Evie partnered with her husband, Swedish pastor and musician Pelle, to lean heavily into meditative, collective congregational praise. Structurally, the tracks emphasize layered vocals and choir arrangements to encourage collective prayer and church unity. The cover artwork features distinct black line art depicting a group of adults and children gathered around to read the Bible and pray together.
One particular track made popular from this release is "Our God Reigns." The song was written by Lenny Smith in 1973 during a difficult period of financial hardship, drawing inspiration directly from Isaiah 52:7. Evie had intentionally shared the spotlight with her husband Pelle and a rich backing choir, stepping away from standard solo vocal arrangements to foster an authentic, congregational live worship experience. Teach Us Your Way was only issued on LP, cassette tape and 8-track tape when it was first released. It is not available on CD or on streaming platforms.
