The Fire Again is the fifth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Kim Hill. It was released on February 28, 1997 and is her first album on Star Song Records. The album was produced by David Kershenbaum.
After taking time off and releasing her mainstream country album So Far So Good, Hill returns with her first Christian album of new material since 1991's Brave Heart and with renewed passion as The Fire Again is Christ-centered and worship focused. The title of the album comes from the track "I Need to Know" in which Hill sings of a cry for a desperate soul trying to find some light in a long dark night.
"And if my hope grows old,
If my faith should ever dim,
If my love grows cold,
Bring to me the fire again..."
Two versions of "Slip Away" are present: a short instrumental version that serves as an interlude in between tracks "I Need to Know" and "More" and the album's final track full-length version with lyrics written by Kathy Wright. The lead single "A Place for Us" returned Hill to the top the Christian AC chart. The Fire Again is a departure from the contemporary pop/rock from her Reunion Records albums of the late 1980s and early 1990s and is more adult contemporary and inspirational.
Producer David Kershenbaum is known for producing many diverse mainstream acts like Tracy Chapman, Duran Duran, Joe Jackson and Bryan Adams. The Fire Again debuted and peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
