The Noise We Make (2001)

The Noise We Make is the first nationally released studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Chris Tomlin. It was released by sixstepsrecords and Sparrow Records on March 12, 2001.

The Noise We Make marked Tomlin's emergence as a worship artist with 10 tracks emphasizing praise, kindness, and the cross, including the title song that became an early live staple. One of his early singles is "Forever," a worship track that was later covered by Michael W. Smith on his Worship album that was released in September of the same year. The Noise We Make laid the groundwork for his accessible songwriting style, drawing from his Passion Conferences involvement. The album was produced by Tomlin and Nathan Nockels.

Nockels and his wife Christy make up the Christian music worship duo Watermark as they were involved in the making of this release as musicians and backing vocalists among other musicians. English Christian worship leader and artist Matt Redman provides additional lead vocals on the new arrangement of the hymn "The Wonderful Cross."
