Never Say Dinosaur is a Christian rock tribute album dedicated to the pioneer Christian rock band Petra. It was released on June 11, 1996 through Petra's former label Star Song Records, distributed by EMI Christian Music Group (now Capitol Christian Music Group).

Never Say Dinosaur serves as a pun on Petra's 1981 studio album Never Say Die. It was a playful rejection of critics who labeled the long-running band as "dinosaurs" or irrelevant to modern music. The compilation features 11 re-imagined covers of classic Petra songs performed by prominent 1990s alternative Christian artists, like Jars of Clay, Sixpence None the Richer, Audio Adrenaline and many others, along with a unique take of "Louie's Solo." The track is an original composition and serves as a creative, stylized tribute to Petra's long-standing drummer Louie Weaver, performed by DC Talk's Kevin Max and musicians Lynn Nichols and Dave Perkins going by the collective name Passafist. The song actually samples audio from Weaver's live drum solo featured on

Petra's 1986 live album, Captured in Time and Space.

Never Say Dinosaur debuted and peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. In 1997, the tribute project was nominated for a Dove Award for Special Event Album of the Year. Never Say Dinosaur is not available on streaming platforms. A YouTube link to listen to the album is posted below this article.
