WOW Hits 2001 (2000)

WOW Hits 2001 is a double disc compilation album that was released on October 24, 2000 by Word Entertainment, Provident Music Group and EMI Christian Music Group with Sparrow/EMI Christian Music Group as its main distributor.

Starting with this release, the WOW collection was re-branded as WOW Hits, as they were beginning a series of WOW anthology releases such as WOW Worship, WOW Gospel and WOW Christmas among other titles. This collection contains 30 top Christian songs and artists as well as 3 bonus tracks by new and developing artists. In this release, it features music by Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Stacie Orrico, CeCe Winans, Third Day, Newsboys, Rebecca St. James and more. It was also an enhanced CD which included some music video samples and other multi-media access.

WOW Hits 2001 topped the Billboard Top Christian Albums and at number 36 on the Billboard 200 Albums charts. The collection was Gold and Platinum certified two months later in December 2000 and later Double Platinum two years later in 2002 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
