Double Take is the eighteenth studio album by the Christian rock band Petra, released on February 29, 2000 by Word Records. The album is produced by John and Dino Elefante with Bob Hartman as executive producer. This will be Petra's final album to be released on Word Records after being on the label for more than 10 years.
Double Take features ten new acoustic arrangements of classic Petra songs and two new songs "Breathe In" and "The Longing." The song "Breathe In" is written and performed by guitarist Pete Orta alone. This is the only album to feature Trent Thomason on keyboards. The new arrangements are more modern and acoustic-oriented. According to lead singer John Schlitt, the purpose of the record is "not to compete. It's to reintroduce to a generation that never heard any of these songs." Schlitt also said that the songs were "designed" to be played on radio.
Double Take peaked at number 34 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. Petra won their fourth and final Grammy Award (their first win since 1993's Wake-Up Call) for Best Rock Gospel Album at the 43rd Grammy Awards and was nominate for a Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year at the 32nd GMA Dove Awards.
