Rejoice (1981)

Updated: May 25

Rejoice is the fifth studio album by the Christian vocal trio 2nd Chapter of Acts, released on May 26, 1981 by Sparrow Records. The album is produced by Buck Herring.

Released as a proper follow up to their 1978 album Mansion Builder, Rejoice features Kerry Livgren, founder of the progressive rock band Kansas, on piano, synthesizers and guitars, in addition to members of "a band called David."

The title song was released to Christian radio as the lead single and topped the Christian CHR chart for five weeks and peaked at number 3 on the Christian AC chart. Trio member Annie Herring wrote the entire album, except the tracks "Bread of Life," "Rise Up and Take a Bow" and "Bread of Life (reprise)" which were written by Herring and her brother and member Matthew Ward.

Rejoice climbed to number 6 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. In 1990, this album and their 1983 album Singer Sower were combined together as one CD and one cassette tape on Live Oak Records as part of The Collector's Series. A year later, Sparrow Records re-issued Rejoice on CD on its own.
