The New Young Messiah is a compilation project album released on September 13, 1993 on Sparrow Records. Norman Miller, who oversaw the original 1990 project
Handel's Young Messiah, returns as executive producer along with multi-awarding winning singer Sandi Patty as co-executive producer and a participant in this updated version, once again modernizing Georg Friedrich Händel's classic oratorio and features the top CCM artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, Larnelle Harris, BeBe & CeCe Winans, First Call, Twila Paris and the London Session Orchestra among others. Production was done by Patty's producer Greg Nelson. Most of the participating artists went out on a national tour to promote the album throughout the fall and winter of '93 during the holiday season. The tour was so successful, that the Young Messiah tour continued on for the next couple of years featuring various line-ups of Christian music acts. The New Young Messiah peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. A companion live concert video was also released on VHS and was nominated for a Dove Award for Long Form Music Video of the Year.
