Twila Paris

Updated: Feb 16

Twila Paris (born December 28, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas) is a contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, author and pianist. Paris has been regarded as a modern-day hymn writer because most of her songs are focused on the church and Christ-centered. Paris also writes Christian pop songs of the day.

Paris' songs such as "Lamb of God," "He Is Exalted" and "We Bow Down" are now being sung in churches worldwide and are examples of her hymn songwriting style.

As a child she released her first album, Little Twila Paris, in 1965. The album included songs drawn from among those she sang with her family in their evangelistic outreaches. Since 1980, Paris has released close to 20 albums, amassed many number one Christian Radio singles, and was named the Gospel Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year three years in a row at the Dove Awards from 1993 to 1995. Paris has been married to her manager Jack Wright since 1985. She was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in May 2015.

In 2001, Paris released her first children's music album and companion book Bedtime Prayers and Lullabies. One month later, Paris gave birth to her first and only son Jack Paris Wright. The Wrights currently live in Arkansas.
