The Word is the second studio album by the Christian music vocal group NewSong, released around November 1984. For this release, NewSong signed with Word Records and would stay on the label up until the early 1990s. The Word was released on Word's subsidiary label Canaan Records, which specializes in Southern Gospel music. It was produced by Andy Tolbird with vocal arrangement by Gary Chapman.

NewSong once again showcases their harmonies and vocals with seven original songs written by the group's member and vocalist Eddie Carswell, plus three songs written by other songwriters and musicians including the final track "Jesus, Be Jesus in Me" that was co-written by Carswell and Gary McSpadden of the Bill Gaither Trio/Gaither Vocal Band. The Word is not available for streaming or download purchasing. A YouTube link to listen to the album is posted below this article. The title song "The Word" is the only track that is available digitally on their 1992 compilation album One Heart at a Time.
