- Never Lose Sight (2016)
Never Lose Sight is the ninth studio album by Christian singer/songwriter/ worship leader Chris Tomlin, released on October 21, 2016 by sixsteps- records/Sparrow Records/Capitol Christian Music Group. Tomlin's long- time producer Ed Cash produced five tracks with Jeremy Edwardson producing a majority of the album and Ross Copperman producing two tracks. The album's main highlight is the lead single "Good Good Father." It was originally released as a stand alone track on digital platforms and sent to Christian radio on October 2, 2015. The track was original recorded by the American Christian worship band Housefires and was written by its members Tony Brown and Pat Barrett and produced by Copperman. Tomlin recorded his version and it became a very popular worship song. The lyrics focus on the character of God as a loving, perfect parent and the identity of believers as children who are unconditionally loved. "Good Good Father" climbed to the top of the Christian music charts on Billboard, where it was No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart for 7 weeks in February 2016 and at No. 1 on the Christian Airplay chart for a week. The song also charted on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart where it peaked at No. 13. "Good Good Father" was certified Gold in 2016, Platinum in 2018 and then Double Platinum in September 2021 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of two million downloads. It is Tomlin's top streamed song on Spotify with more than 260 million. At the 47th GMA Dove Awards, "Good Good Father" was named Song of the Year and awarded to Brown and Barrett for writing the song. It was also nominated for Worship Song of the Year. Despite its success, the song has been criticized for being "not identifiably Christian, completely narcissistic, and poor poetry." Other singles were also released including "Jesus," which was released in July 2016, just three months prior to the album's release date and "Home," which was released after in October 2016. The song "Home" peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart for 3 weeks in June 2017 and was later Gold certified in January 2023. Featured guest artists on Never Lose Sight are American Christian singer and American Idol finalist Danny Gokey, Christian singer/worship leader Kim Walker-Smith, Matt Maher, Matt Redman and Jason Ingram. The album was released in two variations: the regular 11-track standard version and the deluxe version with three extra bonus tracks including the final track "Kyrie Eleison," which in Greek means "Lord, have mercy" and features vocals by Tomlin, Maher, Redman and Ingram. Never Lose Sight was Tomlin's seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart where it topped for a week and it peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The album sold 32,000 copies in its first week, with 30,000 of it based on pure album sales. Never Lose Sight was Tomlin's most recent Gold-certified album on August 29, 2022. On October 20, 2017, the album was named Worship Album of the Year at the 48th GMA Dove Awards. Track listing on the Deluxe Edition 1. Good Good Father (Tony Brown, Pat Barrett) -4:53 2. - Celebrate This Heartbeat (1984)
Celebrate This Heartbeat is the seventh studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Randy Stonehill, released on April 25, 1984 by Myrrh/Word Records. The album was produced by Barry Miller Kaye. It is the first of two albums that Stonehill and producer Kaye have collaborated on (the other being his next album Love Beyond Reason), as Stonehill's sound on this album was more pop/rock. The album's highlight is "Who Will Save the Children," a vocal duet featuring fellow musician and friend Phil Keaggy. The album liner notes on Celebrate This Heartbeat includes a sign up form to sponsor a child. The other song highlights include the title track and "Still Small Voice." A music video was made for the latter to promote the album and is found in the video collection Love Beyond Reason - The Video Album on VHS. - Love Ran Red (2014)
Love Ran Red is the eighth studio album by Christian singer/songwriter/ worship leader Chris Tomlin, released on October 27, 2014 by sixsteps- records/Sparrow Records with distribution by Capitol Christian Music Group. The album was produced by Ed Cash. Love Ran Red features with a blend of guitar, keyboards, and drums that captures his signature modern worship style while incorporating elements of minimalist pop and gospel-funk and pretty much continues his themes as heard from his previous best seller, 2013's Burning Lights. The album's centerpiece is the third single "At the Cross (Love Ran Red)." The track focuses heavily on redemption and grace and is an airplay favorite during the Easter season. It topped Billboard's Christian Airplay chart for two weeks in October 2015. "At the Cross" was Gold certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in October 2019. Prior to "At the Cross," two other singles were released: "Waterfall" was the lead single released to Christian radio and digital formats in April 2014 and was a Top 10 hit on both Billboard's Hot Christian Songs and Christian Airplay charts. The second single "Jesus Loves Me" was a Top 5 hit on both Billboard Hot Christian Songs and Christian AC Airplay charts and hit No. 1 on the Christian Airplay chart for two weeks in February 2015. Love Ran Red gave Tomlin his fifth chart topper on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart for two weeks. Over on the Billboard 200, it peaked at No 8. It is Tomlin's third Top 10 album on the latter chart. After five straight Gold and Platinum releases, plus his Gold-selling compilation album How Great Is Our God, Love Ran Red was not certified, but has contributed significantly to Tomlin's career total of 7 million albums sold worldwide. Tomlin kicked off the Love Ran Red Tour in February 2015 with the Irish Christian worship folk band Rend Collective and the American Christian pop/rock band Tenth Avenue North. The second leg of the tour featuring Rend Collective started in Nashville, Tennessee in late 2015 and included 20 other cities and wrapped in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In the fall of 2015, Tomlin was nominated for four Dove Awards including Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year and in 2016, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Love Ran Red was available in three variations: the regular 12-track standard CD, a deluxe edition containing four extra tracks and an exclusive edition that was sold at Target stores containing the four extra tracks from the deluxe edition and one exclusive track "Hymn for America." - D&K (1987)
D&K is the eighth studio album by the Christian rock duo DeGarmo & Key, released on October 31, 1987 by Power Discs/Benson Records. The duo produced the album with John Hampton. It is D&K's most ambitious album to date. Continuing their arena rock sound from Street Light, the band rocks more on tracks like "Out of the Danger Zone," "War With the World" and "Rock Solid" featuring co-lead vocals by DeGarmo. It is DeGarmo's first co-lead performance on an album since 1979's Straight On track "Livin' On the Edge of Dyin'" and the Hammond B-3 organ played by DeGarmo is prominently featured throughout D&K. D&K returned to the Christian AC chart with the lead single ballad "When the Son Begins to Reign," their first appearance on that chart in nearly two years while their lead rock single "Out of the Danger Zone" would top on that chart. DeGarmo dedicated the album to his late father Clifton Hamilton DeGarmo. D&K was their first Top 5 album in four years, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, thanks to a successful marketing campaign. On the cassette tape version, it was originally released as a boxed set containing two tapes; one for the purchaser and the other to give away to a friend or for someone who needs it as an evangelistic tool. Each of the ten songs has a Bible study that you can answer questions to. Reportedly, there were 100,000 copies of the double cassette version of the album. D&K were nominated for Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year (the inaugural category) at the 1988 GMA Dove Awards and in 1989, they earned their fourth Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group for this album. D&K was reissued on CD in 1992 by ForeFront Records. Track listing All tracks written by Eddie DeGarmo and Dana Key. 1. Out of the Danger Zone -2:52 2. Under the Son -3:51 3. Rock Solid -6:27 4. - Third Day
Third Day was an American Christian rock band formed in Marietta, Georgia in 1991. The band was founded by lead singer Mac Powell, guitarist Mark Lee and Billy Wilkins. The band's name is a reference to the biblical accounts of the resurrection of Jesus on the "third day" following His crucifixion. The band was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame on September 19, 2009. They have sold over 7 million albums in the United States and had 28 number one Christian album chart radio hits. Their fans are known as "Gomers" after a song on their second album about Gomer, who is the wife the prophet Hosea, mentioned in the Bible in the Book of Hosea. They dissolved in 2018 following a farewell tour and reunited in 2025 for a 30th anniversary tour in 2026. During their career, Third Day has won four Grammy Awards and 25 Dove Awards. In 1991, high-schoolers Mac Powell and Mark Lee formed Third Day as a Christian music group with pianist Billy Wilkins. At a 1992 event at Lee's Church, Third Day performed alongside a band called the Bullard Family Singers, which featured David Carr and Tai Anderson. Third Day invited Carr and Anderson to join them shortly after. In 1993, the band started playing more frequently in the Atlanta region in order to make money to record an album. Wilkins left the group in order to pursue his teaching career. Third Day recorded at Furies Studios in Atlanta and with the production help of Carr, Long Time Forgotten was released in 1993, producing and selling 2,000 copies. In 1994 the band brought on a second guitarist, August McCoy on electric guitar. That same year, the band's second album, Contagious, was self-financed for $3,000 and recorded at Furies Studios. 1,000 CDs and cassette copies of the demo were released. Later that year, August McCoy exited the band to go to college. Also, later that year, while playing in Marietta, at the Strand Theatre, the owners offered the band a contract to sign with new independent record label Gray Dot Records. The band released the album Third Day, which sold 20,000 copies. Shortly after, Reunion Records bought out their Gray Dot contract and signed the band to a multi-album deal. In 1995, the band started looking for another second guitarist. After hearing Brad Avery play with singer Chris Carder, Avery was asked to audition. After playing "Consuming Fire" during the first rehearsal, Avery was officially asked to join the band. Reunion Records released the now official version of Third Day, which has sold over 300,000 copies and was well received by critics. The album also yielded their only mainstream rock radio hit in the U.S., "Nothing at All," which peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard rock charts. Later in 1996, Christian music headliner Newsboys asked Third Day to open for them at five West Coast shows. The band also launched their own 65-city tour with All Star United and Seven Day Jesus opening for them. In 1997, the band was nominated for a Dove Award in the category of New Artist of the Year and their video for "Consuming Fire" directed by Chris Metzler and Jeff Springer won a Billboard Music Award in the category of Best Christian Video. The video was shot on location in Bombay Beach, California and other places around the Salton Sea. This experience and discovering Leonard Knight's Salvation Mountain nearby later inspired the album artwork for the band's album Revelation. In 1997, the band started working on their second album, Conspiracy No. 5. The album was produced by Sam Taylor, who had previously worked with King's X and other Christian bands. The album was nominated for a Grammy and won Dove Awards for Rock Album of the Year and Rock Recorded Song of the Year for the track "Alien." The following year, the band toured around the United States, both alone and again opening for Newsboys. Also in 1998, the band recorded a cover of Michael W. Smith's "Agnus Dei" for his Dove Award-winning compilation worship project Exodus. In 1998, Third Day started work on their next album Time with producer Monroe Jones. Time earned the band their second Grammy nomination and won them another Dove Award. Some of the songs that were recorded for possible inclusion in the album, but left out during production, are on the EP Southern Tracks. During the band's live shows they included a significant portion of worship music, prompting the band to release an album made up exclusively of worship songs. The subsequent album Offerings: A Worship Album took about a week to record. In 2000, to support both Time and Offerings, Third Day went on tour alongside female rock singer - songwriter Jennifer Knapp. Later in the same year, the band collaborated on the project City on a Hill: Songs of Worship and Praise with FFH, Caedmon's Call, SonicFlood, Jars of Clay, and others. In 2001, the band played in Australia and New Zealand on the heels of the success of the Offerings album. While touring in the US, Third Day recorded a concert attended by 15,000 fans at the HiFi Buys Amphitheatre in Atlanta to be released as their first DVD, The Offerings Experience. Third Day won more Dove Awards and, additionally, Grammy Awards throughout the 2000s. More albums were released in the 2000s: Come Together, Offerings II: All I Have to Give, Wire, Wherever You Are, Christmas Offerings and Revelation. The band entered the 2010s with Move, Miracle and Lead Us Back: Songs of Worship. Then in 2017, Third Day celebrated their 25th anniversary with their final studio album Revival. On March 2, 2018, Third Day announced a farewell tour with 12 shows and then later expanded to 20 shows. They performed their final show in Denver, Colorado on June 27, 2018. In June 2025, the band announced that they would regroup with the lineup of Powell, Lee, Carr, and Anderson to celebrate their 30th anniversary with a tour which began March 2026, emphasizing that the tour would not produce a reunion, just the band playing their greatest hits of their Christian radio and worship songs. On June 12, 2026, Third Day was featured in a new re-imagined recording of TobyMac's track "Campfire (That Very Love)" and released as a non-album digital track. In August 2026, Third Day announced the final leg of their 30th Anniversary Tour with special guest Zach Williams plus Scout And The Saints for 24-city spring dates. It will kick off in Clarksville, Tennessee on April 1, 2027 and will wrap up in Beaumont, Texas on June 9, 2027. - Move (2010)
Move is the 10th studio album by the Christian rock band Third Day, released on October 19, 2010 by Essential Records/Provident Music. Move is Third Day's first album since original guitarist Brad Avery left the band after recording their 2008 best seller Revelation. After Avery's departure, the band were at a musical crossroads; although they considered replacing Avery, they ultimately decided not to. After playing a few concerts without Avery, Third Day felt they needed to step it up musically. It was a departure from the modern rock stylings of Revelation and showing more of their southern rock roots. Third Day chose to work with producer Paul Moak on the album and recorded it at their own studio, The Quarry in Kennesaw, Georgia, feeling it offered them more creative freedom. Move also has significant influence from gospel music. The album was also recorded at The Smokestack in Nashville, Tennessee. "Lift Up Your Face" was the lead single and was released to digital formats and Christian radio on July 11, 2010. Lyrically, it was written by lead singer Mac Powell, but was composed by Third Day with brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart of the American rock band Needtobreathe. Bassist Tai Anderson recalls that "We got together in their home studio and had a jam session that went with Mac's idea of a song based on the idea of 'lift up your head' from the Psalms... By working with another 'southern' rock band from South Carolina, we got to show our Georgia roots musically with a "gospel" sound"; he further noted that "the big message of the song is 'salvation is calling.'" The track features backing vocals by the American gospel group The Blind Boys of Alabama. The song peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Christian AC Airplay chart and at number 12 on the Hot Christian Songs and Christian Airplay charts. Move's other highlight is the title song "Make Your Move." Released as the third single, the song was sent specifically to Christian CHR radio. "Make Your Move" is a southern rock track that features a heavy kick drum and grunge-influenced chorus, while the vocals are distorted during the bridge and take on a muffled effect. Lyrically, the song depicts evangelism for the perspective of a non-believer. It only peaked at number 43 on the Hot Christian Songs and Christian Airplay charts. Both "Children of God" and "Trust In Jesus" went Top 10 on the Billboard Christian music charts throughout 2011. A deluxe edition of Move was also released as an enhanced CD containing a bonus track entitled "Come On Down," a Moak Mix of "Lift Up Your Face" and video content. Move was Third Day's fourth and final Top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at number 10 while on the Top Christian Albums survey, it was their fifth chart topper. It also peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart. In 2011, Third Day was nominated for two Dove Awards for Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year and Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for "Lift Up Your Face." The album cover won a technical Dove Award for Recorded Music Packaging of the Year, awarded to David McClister for photography, Beth Lee for art direction and Tim Parker for design. Third Day collected their ninth and final Gold certified album nearly seven years later in January 2017 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). - Miracle (2012)
Miracle is the 11th studio album by the Christian rock band Third Day, released on November 6, 2012 by Essential Records/Provident Music. The album was produced by Brendan O'Brien, who is best known for producing and engineer mainstream rock acts like AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and The Fray among others. It was recorded at the band's studio The Quarry in Kennesaw, Georgia. After the release of their 2010 album Move, as well as touring to support the release, Third Day were in the process of taking a break from touring and recording. A chance meeting with producer O'Brien, whom the band met the year before, changed that. Third Day wanted to record an album that sounded fresh and new, especially with what happened with the lackluster singles from Move. Still retaining their southern rock sound, the band was experimenting and exploring new elemental sounds on Miracle, such as layered guitars and harmonies and sing-a-long "gang" vocals. The title track, "I Need a Miracle," was released as the lead single to Christian radio and streaming formats on September 14, 2012. According to lead singer Mac Powell, the idea came from a post-concert meeting with a New Jersey couple. They mentioned their son had been depressed and drove deep into the woods, planning to kill himself. He turned on the radio and heard "Cry Out to Jesus" (from their 2005 album Wherever You Are), which gave him encouragement to keep going. A music video for "I Need a Miracle" was released on the band's YouTube channel on the day of the album's release in November. The video is based around the story in the lyrics. A man leaves a suicide note on a desk before leaving in his truck. He drives to a wooded area. His wife reads the note and is in shock. The man hears a song on the radio that gives him hope to keep him from ending his life. He returns home to embrace with his wife. It is Third Day's best track since "Cry Out to Jesus" and "Call My Name." The song went to No. 1 across the Billboard Christian charts including the Christian AC Airplay chart where it stayed for two weeks and even peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Heatseekers Songs survey. Miracle became another successful album for Third Day. Besides topping the Billboard Top Christian Albums, it also charted on the following album charts: -#10 Billboard 200 -#3 Top Rock Albums -#13 Digital Albums In the album's debut week, Miracle sold 29,000 copies giving Third Day their fourth and final Top 10 placement on the Billboard 200. Despite the album and the track's success, neither the album or "I Need a Miracle" picked up any Grammy or Dove nominations. And also Miracle was not Gold certified, thus ending their streak of Gold-certified albums. As of February 2015, the album has sold 106,000 copies in the United States. - Legacy (1983) (Benny Hester album)
Legacy is the fourth studio album by American singer - songwriter Benny Hester, released on May 6, 1983 by Myrrh/Word Records. The album was produced by Hester and John Guess. After the success of his previous album Nobody Knows Me Like You, Hester returns with Legacy. The album's main theme is about the heritage that, as believers, we pass on to those before us and leave a legacy to be a part of the family of God, by walking in faith. Some of the tracks reflect that like the title track opener and the closing track "These Things Were Done By You." Some regard this album as a "forgotten album," maybe due to the fact that CCM singer and songwriter Michael Card released his second album also titled Legacy that same year, in just mere weeks. Despite this, Hester's Legacy did well on the Billboard Top Inspirational Albums chart and charted higher than Nobody Knows Me Like You, taking it to number 9. Michael Omartian, who produced the previous release, got involved on the album as a musician playing keyboards on four tracks and as an orchestral arranger on the whole album. Legacy has not been released on CD, but as of 2026, it is now available on streaming platforms. On the album cover, Hester appears with son Eric and daughter Nikki. - Benny Hester/Be a Receiver (1978)
Benny Hester is the second studio album by American singer - songwriter Benny Hester. It was originally released in 1978 on Sparrow Records' Spirit label. The album was produced by Brent Maher. This was Hester's proper debut album as a contemporary Christian artist, released as a follow-up to his 1972 mainstream debut album Benny... It would be this album that ushered in the change of what Christian music would sound like leaving behind the sounds of the early Jesus Music era. In 1983, Benny Hester was reissued as Be a Receiver with an updated album cover on Hester's record label at the time, Myrrh/Word Records. It has not been released on CD, but as of 2026, it is now available on streaming platforms. Track listing All songs written by Benny Hester. 1. Be a Receiver -3:26 2. Squeeze You -3:56 3. - Kathy Troccoli
Kathleen Troccoli (born June 24, 1958) is an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, author, and speaker. She is best known for her husky-voiced alto. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Troccoli was raised in Islip Terrace, Long Island, New York where she graduated from East Islip High School. Her father died of colon cancer when she was 15. After graduating from high school, Troccoli studied jazz and opera at the Berklee College of Music in Boston for a year, then returned to Long Island to major in voice at Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) also singing with a SCCC-based jazz band and later singing in Long Island clubs. In the summer of 1978, Troccoli formed a friendship with a born again Christian co-worker while attending college; this led to Troccoli herself becoming a devout Christian. Troccoli was raised in a Catholic family, which was not particularly religious. As of 1998, she was a practicing Roman Catholic, but currently identifies as a non-denominational Christian. Troccoli's alto voice gained prominence when she opened for Ed Nalle's group, GLAD, when the group performed at the Long Island church Troccoli attended in 1980. Approximately six months afterwards, Nalle invited Troccoli to record a demo tape, with his band's backing, and Kathy accepted. After she and GLAD had recorded it, the tape was submitted to Michael Blanton and Dan Harrell (Amy Grant's brother-in-law); these two, as a result of hearing it, formed the Reunion Records label, in Nashville, Tennessee, specifically to record Troccoli, and Troccoli herself, in turn, moved to Nashville to reside with Harrell and his family. Troccoli released her debut album Stubborn Love in 1982. Its title song climbed up to number two on the Christian music charts. Her second and third albums, Heart & Soul (1984) and Images (1986) earned her Grammy nominations. After the release of Images and her collaboration with GLAD with the 1987 Christian hit "All the World Should Know," Troccoli then withdrew from her musical career returning to Long Island for a five-year sojourn, giving singing lessons and sang at weddings. In 1989, Troccoli was prominently featured on the single "I'll Be Your Shelter," a Diane Warren-penned song which pop singer Taylor Dayne recorded for her album Can't Fight Fate. "I'll Be Your Shelter" became a Top Ten single in 1990. At the same time, Troccoli was also caring for her mother who was in ill health. Troccoli's mother died of breast cancer in 1991. After her mother's death, Troccoli returned to the Reunion Records label in 1991 for her secular album debut, Pure Attraction. Her first mainstream success was the Billboard Top 20 hit "Everything Changes," written by Warren. "Everything Changes" also did well on the Christian radio charts. Prior to "Everything Changes," Troccoli had her first two number one songs on the Christian radio charts with "Love Was Never Meant to Die" and "Help Myself to You." Troccoli released her self-titled follow-up album Kathy Troccoli in 1994, Sounds of Heaven in 1995 and in 1996 was a featured singer on The Beach Boys collaborative album Stars and Stripes Vol. 1 singing "I Can Hear Music." Love & Mercy was released in 1997. The track "A Baby's Prayer" won Troccoli her first two Dove Awards as an artist and a songwriter that she co-wrote for Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year. Corner of Eden was released in 1998 and won her another Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year. Troccoli collaborated with multi-award winning artist Sandi Patty with the album Together and her first Christmas album A Sentimental Christmas, both in 1999. Troccoli continued to release albums throughout the 2000s and 2010s. A new album entitled The Legacy of You was released on December 1, 2023. Troccoli will release a new album entitled Yacht Rock Jazz featuring covers of soft rock songs but with a jazz twist on August 28, 2026. The lead digital single "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" featuring John Ford Coley was released on June 5, 2026. A second digital single of Stephen Bishop's "On And On" was released on June 26, 2026.
