- Emmanuel: A Musical Celebration of the Life of Christ (1996)
Emmanuel: A Musical Celebration of the Life of Christ is a musical compilation project album released on October 29, 1996 by Sparrow Records. Norman Miller, who oversaw the original 1990 project Handel's Young Messiah and its 1993 project The New Young Messiah , serves as the executive producer and the project was created and produced by Greg Nelson and Bob Farrell. Nelson and Farrell first collaborated on Sandi Patty 's 1993 concept album Le Voyage writing all the songs, with Nelson producing, and Miller had asked them to compose some original music portraying the life of Christ. Michael W. Smith also has contributed in compositions and scores. And like the Young Messiah projects, it features the finest voices in Christian music. Smith teams up with Amy Grant singing his 1983 track "Emmanuel." Grant and Smith have previously sung this track separately on Grant's Christmas release A Christmas Album and on the various artists 1990 Christmas compilation Our Christmas , respectively. It serves as the centerpiece of the musical project. Other artists heard on this project include Patty, Larnelle Harris , Twila Paris , Margaret Becker , Point of Grace , Gary Chapman , Anointed and many others. Emmanuel peaked at number 7 on the Top Christian Albums and at number 124 on the Billboard 200 albums charts in Billboard magazine. - "Do Something Now" -Single (1985)
"Do Something Now" is a charity single originally recorded by the Christian music collective The CAUSE (Christian Artists United to Save the Earth), released in the summer of 1985 on Sparrow Records in association with Compassion International. Organized by CCM singer - songwriter Steve Camp (who also produced the track) , the event brought more than 90 artists together in April 1985. The proceeds from subsequent sales of the single and airplay went to Compassion International, an American child sponsorship and Christian humanitarian aid organization headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado , that aims to positively influence the long-term development of children globally who live in poverty. An 11 minute short film was released as well as it documents the making of the recording along with artists interview footage and the song. The effort was inspired by the recent charity singles of the time, "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band-Aid, organized by Bob Geldof and "We Are the World" by USA for Africa, organized by Quincy Jones. The projects sent relief to Ethopian famine victims. The CAUSE received the President's Merit Award. The song was written by Camp and musician Phil Maderia and in 1986 it was nominated for a Dove Award for Song of the Year. The following artists participating taking turns singing their solos are: Amy Grant Larry Norman Kathy Troccoli Russ Taff Evie Phil Keaggy Scott Wesley Brown Michele Pillar Steve Camp Sandi Patty Dana Key (of DeGarmo & Key ) Mylon LeFevre Jessy Dixon Steve Taylor 2nd Chapter of Acts (featuring Matthew Ward) Sheila Walsh The single has since been out of print, but the track does appear on the Steve Camp 2-CD compilation album, The Steve Camp Collection (1995) making it available on CD for the first time and is available digitally. Our Christmas is a compilation Christmas album released jointly on Reunion Records and Word Records on September 17, 1990. This is the second of a three-album trilogy from Word Records using the word "Our" following the release of Our Hymns (1989) and the upcoming Our Family (1993). Like Our Hymns, Our Christmas features Christmas songs done by CCM artists' interpretation and styles of music. Highlights include a duet with Amy Grant and Sandi Patty singing a medley of "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and "One Small Child" recorded by David Meece , a song he wrote back in 1971 and has since been covered by other Christian artists including First Call and Rebecca St. James . Our Christmas peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
