- Songs From the Loft (1993)
Songs from the Loft is a various artists compilation album released on September 20, 1993 by Reunion Records and, at the time, distributed by Word Records. The album was produced by Gary Chapman and Jim Dineen with Chapman's then-wife Amy Grant and her current manager Jennifer Cooke serving as executive producers. Songs from the Loft started as a project for Amy and Gary as they gathered teenagers and youth in their barn for these youth group-style meetings and sang simple worship songs. Grant recorded the track "Hope Set High" on her 1991 album Heart in Motion and dedicated it to the youth group that attends their meetings. On this album, Grant wrote the ten tracks, including "Hope Set High," along with CCM artist and songwriter Wes King co-writing on four of them, with "We Believe in God" as the lead single. Other artists participating are Chapman, King, CCM-TV host Amy Delanie, Michael W. Smith , Kim Hill , Ashley Cleveland, Grant's back-up singer Donna McElroy, Susan Ashton and Michael James. The album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and in 1994, won the Dove Award for Praise and Worship Album of the Year, given to the participating artists and producers Chapman and Dineen at the 25th GMA Dove Awards. "We Believe in God," written by Grant and King, was nominated twice for Song of the Year in 1994 and 1995. In 2015, Grant revisited Songs from the Loft with the release of a limited edition extended play (EP) featuring seven tracks and was sold exclusively at a weekend event at her farm and later at her website www.amygrant.com . After more than 30 years since its original release, Song from the Loft is now available for the first time on music streaming platforms and for digital download purchasing on March 22, 2024 by way of Amy Grant Productions. - Unleashed (2016)
Unleashed is the ninth studio album by the Christian rock band Skillet , released on August 5, 2016 by Atlantic/Warner Records, Word/Curb Records and the band's own Hear It Loud label. The album was produced by Brian Howes, Seth Mosley, Kevin Churko and Mike "X" O'Conner. On February 16, 2015, Skillet announced they were writing material for a new album with recording to begin in June with a potential release in the late half of 2015 or early 2016, however it got pushed back to a later-2016 release date on August 5, 2016. The band worked with Brian Howes, who previously produced their 2006 album Comatose and the majority of the album was made and recorded at Howes' studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Skillet also worked with Seth Mosley, Kevin Churko and Mike "X" O'Conner. Lead singer and musician John Cooper stated he felt "really inspired" before going into the studio to record the music. Even though he said "the songs are very aggressive, very in-your-face," he said the new material is genuine to the Skillet sound they have crafted. The album's highlight and lead single is the opening track "Feel Invincible." A crowd-chanting anthem, the song is about feeling untouchable with the power of God and about finding something that gets you through another day. It has been used in a couple of media appearances including as being the official theme for the WWE pay-per-view event 2016 Battleground and as a theme to the eight week live video gaming competition event ELeague that aired on the cable channel TBS (Turner Broadcasting System) and was broadcast in more than 80 countries. "Feel Invincible" is the most successful track on Unleashed , giving the band their first number one song on both Bilboard 's Hot Christian Songs and Mainstream Rock Airplay as well as topping the Christian Rock charts. "Feel Invincible" is the band's fourth multi-platinum single overall going Double Platinum, selling over two million downloads by 2022 and is their most streamed song on the album with more than 826 million streams.
