- Our Journey...So Far (2010)
Our Journey...So Far is an official compilation album by the female Christian rock band BarlowGirl . It was released on September 10, 2010 by Fervent/Word/Curb Records. It was BarlowGirl's final release as a band as they compiled 15 of their best-known Christian radio songs and favorite album tracks in chronological order starting from their 2004 self-titled debut album to their 2009 release Love & War . As a bonus, there's also a previously unreleased remix version of their 2006 number one Christian CHR hit "I Need You to Love Me." For a limited time, a 50-page companion book titled Our Journey...In Pictures was sold with the compilation album as it documents the Barlow sisters life in photographs with pictures of each of the sisters, whether in the studio, at home or in concert. The photos were compiled by their cousin Sarah Barlow and was published by Word Books. Only 500 books were published and each were numbered. After this release and after much thought and prayer, BarlowGirl had announced in social media and on their website that they were retiring as a band after more than a decade together and in late October of 2012, they released their final single "Hope Will Lead Us On," a non-album track, as a thank you to their fans. Their website was taken down a couple of years later in 2014. Our Journey...So Far was BarlowGirl's last charted album as it peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart by December 2010. It did not chart on the Billboard 200 as their previous albums have in the past. Track listing All songs written by BarlowGirl. (from BarlowGirl ) (tracks 1 -4) 1. Never Alone -4:31 2. - Home for Christmas (2008) (BarlowGirl Christmas Album)
Home for Christmas is the fourth studio and Christmas album by the female Christian rock band BarlowGirl , released on September 23, 2008 by Fervent/Word/Curb Records. The album was produced by Otto Price. It is BarlowGirl's sole album to deviate from a pop rock sound, as the band opts for a traditional Christmas genre instead. When the Barlow sisters were growing up, they wished to have a baby grand piano at home. One Christmas eve in the early 1990s, their mother convinced them to spend the day shopping. It was at that time that their father and brother moved the heavy piano inside the home. Upon noticing the piano when they returned home, the sisters had tears of joy. It was then that they began a Christmas tradition of singing carols in four-part harmony with their four female cousins. The seven girls dreamed of creating a Christmas record at that time, a dream that materialized with Home for Christmas . The four cousins, the Shell sisters (Jessica, Jodie, Jennie and Jane), indeed share vocals with the Barlow sisters on "Panis Angelicus" and on the "Angelic Proclamation" medley. The album consists of eleven tracks, eight which focus on the birth of Jesus Christ and three festive-focused songs which are more secular in nature. Two medleys are featured on the album. For the remaining tracks, each of the sisters could include two of her favorite songs on the album. For Rebecca, this included "What Child Is This?" This was the only BarlowGirl album to feature Rebecca singing lead vocals, where as sister Alyssa and Lauren usually share lead vocal duties from their previous releases. For Alyssa, this included the Catholic hymn "Panis Angelicus," the only BarlowGirl recording in a foreign language; Alyssa sang the lead vocals in Latin, while her sisters and the Shell sisters add English background vocals based on "O Lord Most Holy," the English adaptation. Their most popular track is the medley of "Carol of the Bells" and "Sing We Now Of Christmas," as it gets airplay and streams during the holiday season. A year later in 2009, an a cappella version of just "Carol of the Bells" was released as a digital downlown and for streaming platforms as a non-album track. BarlowGirl made a music video for "Hallelujah (Light Has Come)" in December 2010 by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Home for Christmas charted and peaked on the following Billboard album charts: -#2 Top Holiday Albums -#17 Top Christian Albums -#180 Billboard 200 Albums In 2009, BarlowGirl was nominated for a Dove Award for Christmas Album of the Year. - How Can We Be Silent (2007)
How Can We Be Silent is the third studio album by the female Christian rock band BarlowGirl , released on July 27, 2007 by Fervent/Word/Curb Records. The album was produced by Otto Price. The title comes from the track "Million Voices," which serves as the centerpiece of the album and their most rocking tune. How Can We Be Silent is very different from their first two albums. The album is a lot darker, lyrically and musically. It deals with the hardships of living the Christian life, with themes of hope, faith, and spiritual warfare. The lyrics are very deep and masterful, expressing the girls' faith through the years. Radio wise, it was not their best, although "Million Voices" is considered to be a track favorite. Their lead single "Here's My Life" only managed in the Top 20 on the Radio & Records ( R&R ) Christian CHR chart peaking at number 11 and in the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs. Other singles like "Million Voices" and "I Believe in Love" failed to chart. Despite that, How Can We Be Silent gave BarlowGirl their first, and only, number one album as it topped the Billboard Top Christian Albums and debuted and peaked at number 40 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart for the weeks of August 11, 2007. It is their highest charting album on both charts to date. It sold about 25,000 copies in its first two weeks. In 2008, BarlowGirl picked up two Dove Award nominations for Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year and Rock Recorded Song of the Year for "Million Voices." There were no music videos made to promote the album. NOTE: similarly to Another Journal Entry , this album was released in a special edition variant known as How Can We Be Silent Premium Edition . It was released concurrently with the regular edition, adding a new cover sleeve and bundling a 45-minute DVD. Video content includes personal interviews, stories behind the songs on the album and two previously released music videos, "I Need You to Love Me and "Never Alone." Another Journal Entry is the second studio album by the female Christian rock band BarlowGirl , released on September 27, 2005 by Fervent/Word/Curb Records. The album was produced by Otto Price. Another Journal Entry continues the success first heard on their self-titled debut album with their mix of power pop, Christian rock and ballads. BarlowGirl did it again with the release of their second single "I Need You to Love Me" as it topped the R&R ( Radio & Records ) Christian CHR chart for 9 weeks starting on March 17, 2006 and was named the number one song of 2006, tying their first number one hit "Never Alone." The Barlow sister made a music video for this single and was released the same year as their first video "Never Alone." "Grey" was also made into a music video. BarlowGirl wrote eight original songs, plus they cover two tracks: "Never Enough" co-written and recorded by Christian worship artist Chris Tomlin and "No One Like You" written and recorded by David Crowder Band. It added a recording of the hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth." This edition also added three acoustic tracks, previously exclusive to Sony Connect, and a radio edit of "Never Alone," removing 20 seconds of instrumentals from the album version. - Out of the Dark (2017)
Out of the Dark is the sixth and final studio album by Christian singer Mandisa . It was released on May 16, 2017 by Sparrow Records and Capitol Christian Music Group. Mandisa worked with various producers on this album including her long-time producer Christopher Stevens, David Garcia, Seth Mosley and Ben Glover among others. Out of the Dark is Mandisa's first new studio album in four years following the release of her 2013 Grammy Award winning album and best seller Overcomer . During her absence, she had lost a close friend to breast cancer in 2014, plus gaining back much of the weight that Mandisa lost. She also experienced depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide. The loss of her friend, accompanied by a personal sense of betrayal by God, led her to retreat from the public. Mandisa returned to the public eye and made an appearance on Good Morning America in late April 2017 talking to Robin Roberts about her experiences of depression and the loss of her friend. Those experiences led to promoting her new album Out of the Dark with a renewed sense of faith and creative purpose. The lead single "Unfinished" climbed to the Top 10 on the Billboard Christian music charts. The album features collaborations with frequent collaborators tobyMac and Kirk Franklin ("Bleed the Same"), Christian recording artist Britt Nicole ("What You're Worth") and Christian rock singer -songwriter Jeremy Camp ("My First Love"). Mandisa's final music video was made for the further single "Bleed the Same." Out of the Dark topped the Top Christian Albums and peaked at number 60 on the Billboard 200 Albums charts. In the fall of 2018, the album was nominated for a Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year and the single "Unfinished" was nominated for Song of the Year. A deluxe edition of Out of the Dark was later released featuring three bonus tracks. Track listing on the Deluxe Edition 1. Voicemail (intro) -1:36 2. What If We Were Real is the fourth studio album by Christian singer Mandisa , released on April 5, 2011 by Sparrow Records. Christopher Steven returns as producer, along with David Garcia, Dan Muckala and Chance Scoggins each producing tracks. What If We Were Real 's sound is more adult contemporary but has elements of pop, R&B and some electronic dance music (EDM). According to the Christian music website Jesusfreakhideout, " The 11 songs of joy, struggle, worship and redemption encourage shining the light on who we really are, including both the good and the bad.
