  • The Fire Again (1997)

The Fire Again is the fifth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Kim Hill . It was released on February 28, 1997 and is her first album on Star Song Records. The album was produced by David Kershenbaum. After taking time off and releasing her mainstream country album So Far So Good , Hill returns with her first Christian album of new material since 1991's Brave Heart and with renewed passion as The Fire Again is Christ-centered and worship focused. The title of the album comes from the track "I Need to Know" in which Hill sings of a cry for a desperate soul trying to find some light in a long dark night: " And if my hope grows old, If my faith should ever dim, If my love grows cold, Bring to me the fire again..." Two versions of "Slip Away" are present: a short instrumental version that serves as an interlude in between tracks "I Need to Know" and "More" and the album's final track full-length version with lyrics written by Kathy Wright. The lead single "A Place for Us" returned Hill to the top the Christian AC chart. The Fire Again is a departure from the contemporary pop/rock from her Reunion Records albums of the late 1980s and early 1990s and is more adult contemporary and inspirational. Producer David Kershenbaum is known for producing many diverse mainstream acts like Tracy Chapman, Duran Duran, Joe Jackson and Bryan Adams. So Far So Good is the fourth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Kim Hill . It was released on August 25, 1994 by BNA Entertainment (later BNA Records) and Reunion Records. This was Hill's attempt to go country with this release. The lead single and music video for "Janie's Gone Fishin'" was the number one most viewed video on CMT (Country Music Television) and her only minor country hit. Hill's ties to Christian subculture remained firm as long-time producer Wayne Kirkpatrick continued to helm the project. The track "Is There Any Love Left" was written by Kirkpatrick and Amy Grant . So Far So Good 's final track "When We're Home" is the only overt concession to religious themes. In addition to Grant and Kirkpatrick, other top songwriters contributed to the album, including Jeff and Gayla Borders, Scott Parker, Dennis Winslow, Paul Gordon and Jay Gruska. • Brave Heart (1991)

Brave Heart is the third studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Kim Hill , released on June 19, 1991 by Reunion Records. The album was produced by Brown Bannister and Wayne Kirkpatrick. Brave Heart was more in vein like her previous album Talk About Life , but takes this release to a new level. Hill rocks out on the track "Round and Round." The song was a Top 10 Christian Rock hit. There are also some Beatles influences on "Words" and "Up in the Sky." Hill had a number one song with the country-tinged "Satisfied." The album's final track "I Will Wait" is a song, Hill says, is about "waiting on the Lord" with specific application to waiting for God to provide her a husband. At the end of the song, there's is a 30-second snippet of Hill, in the studio, trying to hit the high notes on "Mysterious Ways," but to no avail. Brave Heart is regarded as Hill's best album with some top notch musicians, once again featuring the rhythm section of guitarist Gordon Kennedy, bassist Tommy Sims and drummer Chris McHugh, all three formerly of White Heart . Kirkpatrick wrote or co-wrote a majority of the album, except for the track "Don't Face the World Alone," which was written by Karen Peris. Hill co-wrote five songs with Kirkpatrick. Brave Heart debuted and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. In 1992, Hill was nominated for a Dove Award for Female Vocalist of the Year and earned her first, and only, Grammy nomination for Best Rock/ Contemporary Gospel Album.
