- Out of the Grey
Out of the Grey is a husband-and-wife contemporary Christian music duo consisting of Scott and Christine Denté. Christine provides lead vocals, while Scott plays guitars and sings background, along with the occasional lead vocals. They have released seven studio albums, one best-of compilation and one live EP and have been involved in a number of other projects. Their 1991 self-titled debut album was named one of the 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music by CCM Magazine . Meeting in 1985 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, the couple married in 1987 and moved to Nashville the following year where they recorded demos whenever they weren't waiting tables. Eventually, the twosome caught the ear of Sparrow Records' Peter York and entered the studio with singer/songwriter Charlie Peacock in the producer's chair. Christine's voice-often ethereal and breathy but never weak-immediately captured attention, causing one reviewer to deem it "one of the most perfectly tuned instruments in Christian music." Meanwhile, Scott's biting and inventive turns on electric and acoustic guitars were balanced against Peacock's clean, simple production, which let the songs speak for themselves. How You Live is the ninth studio album by the Christian female vocal group Point of Grace , released on August 28, 2007 by Word/Curb/Warner Bros. Records. The album was produced by Brown Bannister. How You Live achieved critical and commercial success due to the album's third single and music video "How You Live (Turn Up the Music)." The song was released to both Christian and mainstream country markets, where it performed moderately well peaking at number 52 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. This is also the group's final album as a quartet as founding member Heather Payne announced her retirement in June 2008 from the group after giving birth to her fourth child in late 2007. Due to Payne's departure and the group's increasing popularity within the country music market, Warner Music Group commissioned a re-release of the album, labeled "Deluxe Edition" in October 2008. This edition added two new songs and an acoustic version of the title track. How You Live peaked at number 4 on the Top Christian Albums and number 56 on the Billboard 200 Albums charts. In 2008, Point of Grace won the Dove Award for Country Recorded Song of the Year for "How You Live (Turn Up the Music)" while its writer, fellow CCM singer - songwriter Cindy Morgan won Songwriter of the Year at the 39th GMA Dove Awards. On the live Dove Awards telecast, the girls were accompanied by Morgan on the piano, and their own Denise Jones on guitar. Payne originally sang the lead on the song but since her departure, Leigh Cappallino took over the lead vocals on the new recording and in live concerts.
