- Boys Will Be Boyz (1991)
Boys Will Be Boyz is the third studio album by the Australian Christian rock band Newsboys , released on August 9, 1991 by Star Song Records. The album is produced by the band's drummer Peter Furler along with Tony Miceli co-producing on four tracks. Boys Will Be Boyz was recorded in Australia at Springbrook Recording Studios. It is the band's first album to be recorded in their native country since their independent demo cassette release [He's Coming Back] in 1987. This was the last album before Steve Taylor started producing their albums throughout the 1990s. Newsboys would see increased success on this album compared with their two previous albums, including the lead single " One Heart , which peaked at #2 on The CCM Update 's Christian CHR chart, giving the band their first Top 5 hit. It was the first album devoid of re-recordings of songs from their demo cassette , seeing a shift to a greater variety of musical instruments. Furler would perform rap lyrics of some songs along with lead vocal duties on the track "Stay With Me," beginning his path to becoming the band's lead singer in 1997. Billy Smiley of White Heart co-composed music on "Stay With Me," while the band wrote the entire album. Newsboys added a fifth member on this album with Cory Pryor on keyboards, in addition to Furler, John James (lead vocals) and Sean Taylor (bass guitar). Vernon Bishop is the new guitarist, replacing Johnathan Geange. The band also released a short live concert video on VHS also titled Boys Will Be Boyz featuring songs from this albums, behind-the-scenes moments and four music videos: "One Heart," "Kingdom Man", the remix of "Taste and See" and "Simple Man" (from their second album Hell Is For Wimps ). - [He's Coming Back] (1987)
[He's Coming Back] is the 1987 self-produced debut album by the Australian Christian rock band Newsboys . It is the first of only two albums recorded in Australia. [He's Coming Back] was available only on cassette tape at their gigs and on tour throughout the eastern Australian states. The track "He Died For You" has to date not been rerecorded for or otherwise released on any subsequent Newsboys album. "Stand Up" is an early version of "Stand Up for Jesus," which later appeared on their second album, Hell Is For Wimps . [He's Coming Back] and Boys Will Be Boyz are the only piece of Newsboys' work to be recorded in Australia, since they came to the U.S. to record their first album, Read All About It , but returned to Australia to record Boys Will Be Boyz . The tracks featured on this album are different recordings than the ones of the same names in later albums, even though the songs are usually nearly the same. Still, certain songs on this album feature different lyrics than their later re-releases. It is the only album featuring original member George Perdikis on guitar and composing music on all tracks. It was released in 1988 on Refuge Records and distributed by Spectra Distribution. The album was produced by Tommy Sims, who, at the time, was the bass guitar player in the American Christian rock band White Heart . It was the first Newsboys album to be recorded in America, as they moved to Nashville, Tennessee from their native Australia. Read All About It features four songs re-recorded from their 1987 Australian independent release [He's Coming Back] with six original tracks including "You're Still There" written solely by lead singer John James. Original member George Perdikis was replaced on this album by Phil Yates, but has contributed songs on the album. The album garnered a little airplay with "I Got Your Number" making the Top 20 on the Christian Rock chart. The song was also their very first music video. Jacquelyn "Jaci" Davette Velasquez ( born October 15, 1979) is an American actress and contemporary Christian and Latin pop singer and songwriter, performing in both English and Spanish. Velasquez has sold almost three million albums in the United States, recorded three Platinum and three Gold albums, and recorded 16 singles that hit No. 1 plus six more that entered the top 10. She received a Latin Billboard Music Award in 2002 for her album "Mi Corazón," eight Dove Awards, including New Artist and Female Vocalist of the Year, as well as three Grammy nominations, and an American Music Award nomination in the category of "Favorite Latin Artist" in 2002. From 2010 to 2016, Velasquez co-hosted “The Family-Friendly Morning Show,” a syndicated morning radio program with Doug Griffin. Velasquez was born in Houston, Texas. She is of Mexican descent. She grew up in an evangelical church where her parents were both singers and pastors. At the age of nine, she began traveling with her father, who by that time was a full-time singing evangelist. She began by singing backup, then later sang solo, releasing three independent records. It was while on the road that she was discovered by a representative of Myrrh Records. Velasquez released her national debut album Heavenly Place on May 13, 1996; five of its songs became No. 1 hits. The album was later certified Platinum. Velasquez has been distinguished as the fastest selling solo debut recording artist in her genre and the first solo artist in Christian music history to reach gold status with a debut album. She has since released seven more English-language albums, two of which were certified Gold. This album enabled Velasquez to achieve crossover success by building a fan base among Hispanics. Her first single, "Llegar a Ti," topped both the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and Hot Latin Pop Songs charts and became the first Christian song to top both charts. The song also gave her a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. In 2001, she released her second Spanish-language album, Mi Corazón . The album's lead single, "Como Se Cura Una Herida," topped the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and became one of the biggest singles of the year, receiving multiple award nominations and wins. The album received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. "Como Se Cura Una Herida" charted at No. 1 simultaneously with the song "Adore" at No. 1 on the CCM (Inspirational) chart giving Velasquez two simultaneous No. 1s in two different markets. Her Latin music success includes five Spanish-language releases, two No. 1 Latin Billboard Singles, two Platinum albums, a Premio Lo Nuestro Award for New Artist of the Year, two Billboard Latin Music Awards, and four Dove Awards for Spanish Language Album of the Year. - Diamond (2012)
Diamond is the 14th studio and 11th English album by Christian/Latina pop singer Jaci Velasquez . It was released on February 7, 2012 by Inpop Records. The album was produced by Craig Swift and Chris Beavens, who are both in the Latin Christian band Salvador, along with Jaci's husband Nic Gonzalez. It is Jaci's first new studio album in four years, her first album of the 2010s and her only full-length album on the Inpop label. Diamond was preceded by the lead single "Give Them Jesus," which was released back in October 2011. It gave Jaci her first radio hit in nearly eight years and climbed to the Top 40 on the Billboard Christian charts. It was the only single to be released from the album. Jaci returns to familiar territory with some radio-friendly songs giving it a more adult contemporary sound. Diamond debuted and peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums and even though it did not chart on the Billboard 200, it did peak at number 189 on the Billboard Top Current Album Sales chart.
